Cowboy Capital Gets Crabby

Things are about to get “crabby” in the 95361 and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

As crab season is in full swing in Northern California, residents of the Central Valley, specifically Oakdale, need not feel left out. Not only will the community have more than one to choose from, but each one scheduled to be hosted benefits a non-profit or community driven organization.

Fortunately for the community at large there is little overlap and each event will host something a little bit different. The following is a list of scheduled events, as well as contact information for tickets for the seasonal feasts.

Oakdale Center for Human Services will be the first to get things cracking as it hosts its Seventh Annual Oakdale Crab Feed and Auction on Friday, Jan. 31. The event will be hosted at the Gene Bianchi Community Center at 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the event will conclude around 10 p.m. While the event is currently listed as “sold out” the community is encouraged to contact the Center for needs, as well as information on future events. Oakdale Center for Human Services can be contacted at 209-847-0420.

A group most at home in the water, Oakdale Swim Team has thrown its fins once again into the pool as it presents the 2020 OST Surf & Turf Crab Feed Fundraiser on Saturday, Feb 1. This event will also be hosted at the Bianchi Community Center with all proceeds benefiting the Oakdale Swim Team swim programs. A dinner of all you can eat crab, tri-tip, pasta, salad and bread. A silent auction, live auction and raffle will all be a part of the evening. Doors open at 5 p.m. with a no-host bar. Dinner is served at 7 p.m. Individual tickets are $55. A table of eight includes wine and reserved seating for $500. Persons interested in purchasing a table or tickets call visit www.oakdaleswimteam.com or text 209-480-5418.

Maintaining the tradition for the 22nd year will be the Annual Jeans and Jerseys Oakdale Junior High Crab Feed, on the schedule for Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Bianchi Community Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The night will include music, auction items as well as a raffle. Tickets are $50 per person or $450 for a table of eight which includes drink tickets. Proceeds from the event benefit the student body of OJHS. Tickets may be purchased through the campus business office or by contacting Kendra Jones at jrhighcrabfeed@yahoo.com or (209) 612-3978.
