Shiny automobiles in a variety of makes and models lined the parking lot at Belmare Senior Living in Oakdale recently, as residents and car aficionados strolled around the parking lot at the ‘50s inspired Classic Car Show. Decked out in her era-appropriate attire, compete with polka dots and matching scarf, was Cynthia Villalovoz, Sales and Marketing Director at Belmare, who stopped to chat with some residents and their families while she cruised the parking lot.

“We have had such a great turnout, it’s so much fun and we love doing things like this for our residents and also for the whole community,” said Villalovoz.

For many residents, such as Jim and Angelina Tovar, they reminisced as they toured the cars. Married for 71 years, the Tovars have shared a lot of memories, many of them in Oakdale. Pointing to a yellow Ford, Jim noted that he and Angelina took one of those cars up to the foothills more than 70 years ago to get married and they never looked back. Now as Jim visits Angelina at Belmare, where she currently resides, he shares a lifetime of love and cherished moments each time he visits.

The late August car show gave residents and visitors plenty to reminisce about, while enjoying the chance to also talk some ‘shop’ about the classics on display at the West F Street site.
