Annual Survivor Luncheon Scheduled For Late August
RFL

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Greater Stanislaus County will be hosting its annual Survivor and Caregiver Luncheon later this month.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., staged at 1800 Baldwin Road, Hughson.

The ‘Greater Stanislaus County’ relay event welcomes teams from Stanislaus County and surrounding areas, with participants from several communities. Oakdale and Riverbank residents have previously participated in both the Relay For Life event and the luncheon in the past and are being encouraged to do so once again.

The special luncheon will be served for cancer survivors and their caregiver guest, and the day will also include guest speakers, tributes and prize drawings.

The goal is to help honor survivors in their fight against cancer. Those with questions or those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to Selina at 209-505-7242.

This year’s Relay For Life of Greater Stanislaus County will be a 24-hour team event, staged at John Thurman Field in Modesto. The event runs from 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Oct. 1 at 9 a.m.

Teams are actively fundraising to reach this year’s goal of $150,000 and there is still time to get involved. You can join an existing team or form your own; all proceeds from the event benefit the American Cancer Society and help provide for patient services, education and advocacy.

Regular monthly meetings are hosted at the North Modesto Church of God, 1918 Sherwood Ave., Modesto at 6:30 p.m.; anyone interested in learning more about Relay For Life and how to get involved is welcome to attend the upcoming Event Leadership Team, ELT, meeting on Aug. 10 or the next Team Captain/Team Member meeting on Aug. 24.
