Annual Science Olympiad

Approximately 400 elementary school children from throughout the region are gearing up for the 22nd Annual Elementary Science Olympiad, slated for Saturday, March 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Walnut School, 4219 N. Walnut Road in Turlock. Admission is free.

Sponsored by the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) and the Education Foundation of Stanislaus County, many of the events are open to the public beginning at 8:30 a.m. This year, spectator events include: Can Race, Catapult, Orienteering, Paddle Boat, Straw Egg Drop and Water Rockets. The awards ceremony is slated to begin at 3:15 p.m. in the Walnut School lawn area.

The following elementary schools are scheduled to participate: Agnes Baptist, Chatom, Chrysler, Cloverland, Crowell, Empire, Fair Oaks, Hart-Ransom, Hickman, Hickman Charter, Hughes, Julien, Lakewood, Magnolia, Our Lady of Fatima, Sacred Heart, Sierra View, Stanislaus, Von Renner, Walnut and Whitmore Charter.
