Annual Oakdale Rodeo Just Around The Corner

It is almost that time. The Cowboy Capital of the World will soon be filled with cowboys and cowgirls from across the globe for the annual PRCA Oakdale Rodeo. The annual event is scheduled for April 13 and 14 at the rodeo grounds.

A full slate of actives will take place leading up to the actual rodeo itself. On Tuesday, April 9 at 6 p.m. local team roping gets the week started. This event is free and is hosted at the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo Grounds on East F Street. This event will feature amateur ropers who live with a 25-mile radius of Oakdale. Cash prizes and a new belt buckle will be given out to the winners.

Thursday night, Oakdale royalty will be crowned. The 2019 Oakdale Rodeo Queen coronation will be presented. This event is free and is staged at the Oakdale Cowboy Museum.

Friday morning, April, 12 Timed Event Slack will take place. This event includes team roping, tie down-roping and steer wrestling. The action is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. inside the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo Grounds. Admission is $2. Also on Friday, immediately following the timed events will be Barrel Racing Slack.

Saturday morning, beginning at 9 a.m. the annual Oakdale Rodeo Parade will take place. A variety of entries will be hitting the streets of Oakdale to start off the festivities. The parade hits East F Street after lining up near Oakdale High School on G Street, and will march all the way to its final destination, the SaveMart parking lot.

Then, on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m., it’s the PRCA Oakdale Rodeo. Bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback, barrel racing and more are scheduled. Admission is $15 for presale tickets and $20 at the gate.

At 7 p.m. the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo Grounds Clubhouse will host the Oakdale Rodeo Dance. This is a 21 and over event only and admission is $10.

Sunday morning, April 14 at 10 a.m. the Cowboy Church will take place with Coy Huffman inside the clubhouse. This is a free event. At 1 p.m. the finals of the PRCA Oakdale Rodeo will take place. Admission will be $15 for presale tickets and $20 at the gate.

Ticket outlets include Oakdale Feed and Seed, Oakdale Cowboy Museum, Oakdale Chamber of Commerce, Bucksworth Western Wear and Conlin Supply. You can also get your tickets at Bootbarn in both Modesto and Turlock along with Turlock Feed. Tickets can also be purchased online at Oakdalerodeo.com.
