It will be the North vs. the South this weekend as Civil War Days return to Knights Ferry.

The American Civil War Association will host its annual Knights Ferry Civil War Days on Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24, at the historic Knights Ferry Covered Bridge.

Battle times are Saturday, 1 pm. and 3:30 p.m., Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., with the North and South going to battle to reenact Civil War skirmishes.

Along with the battles, encampments on both sides of the river will offer a look at life during the Civil War period, with soldiers and their families taking up residence for the weekend.

Gates are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to view the encampments; the American Civil War Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving American heritage and sharing it with the general public. More information is available at www.acwa.org.

In conjunction with the Civil War Days, the Knights Ferry Community Club will put on its annual Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday night, March 23. Hours for the dinner are 5 p.m. until 8 pm., hosted at the Community Club on Main Street. Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 10 and under. Tickets are available at the Knights Ferry Creamery and Sweets, the Knights Ferry General Store or call 209-881-3446. You can also get tickets at the door. Funds raised at the event help the Community Club with the cost of its building insurance, utilities and basic expenses.
