If baubles, bangles and bling are your thing, check out the newly opened London Fox clothing store on Sierra Avenue.

Owned by native Oakdalean Tammy Golding, whose parents have owned the Oakdale Locksmith shop for the past 25 years, London Fox is the culmination of Golding’s dream to own a clothing store.

Golding opened the weekend of the Chocolate Festival and was overwhelmed by the traffic that poured into her store.

“We had over 1,300 entries for a $100 shopping spree,” Golding said. “It was great. I had 10 of my friends working for me that day and that still wasn’t enough to handle the traffic.”

Golding may have found a winning combination of jewelry, purses, and cute clothing that women are looking for.

“I’ve always wanted a clothing store,” she said. “I love that it’s very seasonal. Things change all the time.”

From purses to claw clips, earrings to scarves, London Fox strives to offer something for everyone and every budget.

“Even with this slow economy we’ve really taken off because of our low price point. You can find something for $4 here,” Golding said. “If you’re going to spend money, you want to feel good about it.”

London Fox also offers complimentary gift-wrap year-round, which is something she says is an added value to the customer.

“We’re all in a hurry these days and what would be better than going straight from the store to the party? Sometimes people only have a lunch break to go shopping for a gift. It’s just nice to be able to offer that to people,” she said.

Golding offers a 6-month guarantee on her products, particularly her purses.

“I stand behind my products because that’s important,” Golding said. “If a button falls off or a rhinestone, you can have it replaced.”

Golding carries such brand names as Roxy, Guess, Fox and Hurley but her own line of London Fox seems to be taking off quickly.

“The shirts with the London Fox logo on them seem to be really popular. We sold out on the tank tops,” Golding said, adding that plans are in the works to add more items with the London Fox logo, such as hats and backpacks. “And this is something else I’ve always wanted to do and that’s design clothes.”

Golding plans to keep merchandise in the two locations, at the London Fox storefront and her parent’s shop.

“My parents are really happy with the merge and it really works that customers can go to both places,” she said. “It’s great I got to test-run the market at my parent’s shop and that’s how I knew it was going to be successful.”

With a background in interior design as well as a love for the retail business, Golding has big plans for her London Fox venture. She attributes her inspiration to her mother for instilling the desire and the savvy for the business as she helped manage her parents’ business, The Unique Cottage, for many years.

“I plan to add a kids and babies section so there’s something for everyone,” Golding said. “Everyone likes to look good.”

London Fox is located at 157 So. Sierra Ave.
