Kristine Fallentine, owner and key name behind Kristine’s Designer Clothing, has something unique to offer the Oakdale shopper. The recently opened 145 N. Second Ave., Oakdale location is just in time for the holiday season and their sought after unique customer.

“We sell to mature women,” Fallentine said of her selection and customer base. “Women who are dressing for success or special occasions. We’ll also be adding resort wear and dresses.”

The shop owner spent a number of years working as a manager and buyer for a Modesto based boutique, before deciding to bring her vision to her hometown of Oakdale.

“Before I went to market, I went to every boutique in town and saw a need,” she said.

Fallentine stressed the quality of the items in her shop, noting that when she shops at market (either San Mateo or Las Vegas locations), she looks exclusively for ‘wear now’ items. None of the inventory in her shop is purchased via internet shopping. She also has vendors visit the shop with products so that items may be tried for proper fit.

In addition to clothing, Kristine’s offers high quality handbags, scarves, slippers, jewelry and belts.

“We also have some fun younger items,” the owner offered. “We have a good variety for everyday items and dressy stuff too. What I think makes us different is we cater to our customers. We introduce ourselves to them when they arrive. We take items for them to try.

“Customer service is very important to us.”

As testament to that, Fallentine opened the shop with a mailing list of over 200-plus customers in the immediate area. An open house was hosted in mid-November to acquaint the customers with the North Second Avenue location.

“I want my customers to see, they’re making a really good decision to shop here,” she said. “It’s nice to have some place in town to go to quickly and get something nice for a special occasion.”

Kristine’s Designer Clothing is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
