The week of Oct. 6 through 10 has offered a new opportunity to Pointe of Dance Studio and its dancers. This year marks the inaugural ‘Share the Love’ event hosted by the studio.

“We are hoping this will be our outreach program,” studio owner Rachel Turnage said of the new event. “We’ve always done ‘bring a friend’ and wanted to go beyond that. The dancers said what about the kids who are by themselves at school and maybe don’t have friends. This is for them.”

Turnage has encouraged her staff and dancers, to invite those they feel may be bullied, eat lunch alone, spend recess by themselves or just need some extra love to join the fun at POD.

“We want to provide an opportunity for kids who might not otherwise have an opportunity to do this,” she said of the open house approach. “We are always offering the opportunity for classes to be tried free of charge, but this is an extra special opportunity.”

A number of classes still remain available throughout the week for all ages and interests to try. Classes including but not limited to: Mommy and Me; Tap; Tumble Babies; Tumbling; Ballet; Hip Hop; Jazz as well as Competition Dance which can be previewed. For a list of class times and days visit www.pointeofdancestudio.com, Facebook page Pointe of Dance or call 845-9091.
