Oscar and Vanessa Moreno wish to bring wellness to the Central Valley and it seems to be working.

Now a year into running their Oakdale-based business, Mind and Body Wellness, the husband/wife team work together offering massage and holistic wellness to their clients. Situated at 730 East F St. #7, Oakdale, the business location is no accident. Both Oscar and Vanessa are past students and graduates of its neighboring Holistic Life Institute.

Oscar, the first to graduate, encouraged his wife to follow suit once he began seeing the success of his mobile practice. The massage therapist would travel to offices and homes offering services.

“I worked on a lot of people who were immobile,” Oscar said, noting his wife’s personal interest in holistic health and well-being, he recognized the opportunity.

So while Oscar brings the art and helpfulness of massage to the business, Vanessa offers Cranial Sacral Therapy, Reiki, customized organic facials, as well as her training as a Holistic Health Practitioner.

“I just felt like I had a calling to it,” she said, pointing to her personal interest before beginning her education. “I started it (training) and I didn’t want to leave.”

As testament to their passion for what they do, the couple shared they enjoy educating their clients as they work with them.

“We want them to leave more educated than when they came here,” she said. “No massage is ever the same; we want to personalize it to you.”

As the massage therapist of the duo, Oscar echoed her words stating that as clients have return visits, different areas of the body require different attention.

As the business grows and their clientele increases, the couple shared their goal of bringing a day spa which is like an oasis to the valley.

“A lot of people don’t know a lot about holistic health,” Vanessa said. “I feel like now people are starting to become more aware of it and they’re asking questions. That’s where we need to give them the right information and point them in the right direction.”

Business hours for Mind and Body Wellness are by appointment only, seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For additional information, to schedule a consultation or make an appointment, call 209-322-9533.
