The Stanislaus County Fair is partnering with local classrooms throughout the area to build on their education.

Sponsored by the Turlock Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee, the fair’s “School Involvement Program” gives students an opportunity to work with the Fair and use their imagination through creativity. This year the focus is on the almond trees and bees. Through the Fair’s Ag Education program students will create hand print farm animals and a group project that will help them learn about the importance of almonds and bees in agriculture. Each class participating will have their projects entered and showcased at the 2016 Fair.

Specifically developed curriculum kits will assist teachers with instructing students about the agricultural industry and its importance to life. The kits include a book and activities for the classroom, so that each classroom can create their unique “Bees & Trees” project.

Activity kits will be available starting Friday, April 22 at the Fair’s Exhibit Office at 900 N. Broadway, Turlock in building E2. Kits may be picked up or turned in Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The deadline for projects to be turned in is Thursday, June 30 by 5 p.m. Projects may be turned in before the deadline.

“Each class that participates will have their creative masterpieces displayed at the 2016 Stanislaus County Fair,” said Laura Moore, exhibits supervisor. “Cash prizes are awarded to classes whose creative “Bees & Trees” projects are rated brilliant and exceptional by project judges.”

The 2016 Stanislaus County Fair opens Friday, July 8 for a 10-day run. Discounted Fair admission tickets, unlimited ride wristbands, and the Fair season pass will be on sale beginning Saturday, April 30. Visit the Fair’s website for upcoming ticket sale information at www.stancofair.com.

The 2016 Fair will feature a spectacular children’s area presented by Sky Trek Aviation. Also planned for 2016 are 10 nights of free celebrity concerts included with Fair admission, a total of three stages of live entertainment, upwards of 30,000 local exhibits and over 1,750 animals. Metal-mashing motorsports and three nights of rodeo in the FoodMaxx Arena will also be featured.
