The Travis Brass, one of the ensembles of the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West, will offer a free concert at the Bothwell Arts Center, 2466 Eighth St., Livermore on Monday, April 23 at 7 p.m.
The event is presented by the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center as part of their effort to provide accessible and affordable performing and visual arts experiences to the community. Although the event is free, space is limited. Tickets are required and can be requested at the box office or online at lvpac.org
The Travis Brass, one of the cornerstone ensembles of the Band of the Golden West, is made up of two trumpet players, Technical Sergeant Thomas Salyers and Airman First Class Alan Matteri, Staff Sergeant Daniel Nebel on French horn, Senior Airman James Wright on trombone and Senior Airman Lee Jarzembak on tuba. Matteri is well known in the community as he has performed as part of the orchestra for Livermore Valley Opera and a number of other local groups since graduating from California State University East Bay.
For decades, the Travis Brass has entertained audiences in seven West Coast states with performances across a wide range of musical styles and genres. They celebrate our country’s heritage and honor veterans by representing troops at events of all types with the highest level of skill and expertise. In addition to supporting military ceremonies and presenting free concerts, they also work to preserve American music heritage by providing educational assistance for music educators and aspiring students.
“It is part of our mission to reach out to people across the community and offer a variety of arts opportunities,” said Scott Kenison, Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center’s Executive Director. “We already present the annual free holiday concert at the Bankhead and plan to add other low cost or free family-oriented events.”
Free cultural celebrations, such as Chinese New Year, as well as the Livermore Innovation Fair in April and ArtWalk in October attract a diverse audience.
