Delta Drama is back with the classic play “Cyrano,” the College’s first in-person drama production since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The play opens at Delta’s Tillie Lewis Theatre on Friday, Nov. 5 and is free and open to the public. Guests must provide proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test, and masks are required indoors.

Fierce with a pen and notorious in combat, Cyrano almost has it all, if only he could win the heart of his true love Roxane. There’s just one big problem: He has a nose as huge as his heart. Will a society engulfed by narcissism get the better of Cyrano, or can his mastery of language set Roxane’s world alight?

Edmond Rostand’s masterful storytelling is adapted by Lisa Tromovitch, with special attention paid to the heroine’s point of view. The classic play will be brought to life to celebrate Cyrano’s powerful and resonant resistance against overwhelming odds. Alvaro Hernandez portrays Cyrano with Kayla Warner as Roxane.

Delta Drama students will be on stage for several performances. Shows are Fridays, Nov. 5 and 12; Saturdays, Nov. 6 and 13 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., Nov. 7 and 14.
