Books, Films And Friends Book Club Offered At State
books

For the third meeting of readers for The State Theatre’s ‘Books, Films and Friends’ book club, come enjoy a screening of the completely unbelievable but wholly captivating flight of fancy Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

This event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 10 at 6 p.m.

In this classic film, a lonely, struggling writer (George Peppard) becomes enchanted with his neighbor (Audrey Hepburn), an independent young woman who strives to be a high-climbing socialite with a penchant for high-fashion and wild parties. Out of the elusive, but curiously intoxicating Truman Capote fiction, director George Axelrod developed a surprisingly moving film, touched up into a stunningly visual motion picture.

The State Café will be open for espresso drinks, wine and beer, cocktails, light food and desserts. The moderator for the evening will be MJC English instructor Chandra Howard.

The film, released in 1961, is rated G and runs one hour, 55 minutes.

For online ticket sales go to www.thestate.org. To purchase your tickets by phone call The State Box Office at 209-527-4697 from noon to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. If still available, tickets may also be purchased the night of the event up to the start of the presentation.

The State Theatre is at 1307 J St., Modesto.
