Krista Anderson, daughter of Escalon residents Randy and Teresa Anderson, is engaged to Ryan McCoon.
McCoon, son of Modesto residents Don and Johanna McCoon, proposed May 30, 2012 at a livestock show.
The couple met eight years ago while showing livestock at the California State Fair. Both were highly involved in FFA during high school, Anderson attended Escalon High School and McCoon went to Modesto High.
After high school, Anderson went to Modesto Junior College and then to Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in Agricultural Communications. She received her bachelor’s degree in December 2010 and will complete her master’s in the same field this December.
Anderson is currently the public relations and administrative assistant for the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, Staff and Program Development office.
She has a sister, Lindsey and a brother, Jason.
Pursuing his livestock judging dreams, McCoon also ended up in the mid-west, receiving judging scholarships to attend Redland Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma.
He too currently attends Oklahoma State and is studying plant and soil science with a minor in pest management, hoping to become a pest control advisor. McCoon will graduate next December and is currently on the livestock judging team and works on the OSU beef range.
He has a twin brother, Matt and a sister, Hannah.
The wedding is to take place at a private home in Hughson on May 25, 2013. After the completion of school, the couple plans to return to their Central Valley roots.
