Adolphe “Doc” Garcia and Shirley “Dorene” Garcia celebrated 61 years of marriage in September of this year.
The couple was introduced by Dorene’s mother, Ollie Bell, in Oakdale. They were wed in Modesto on Sept. 27, 1949. They have lived in Oakdale since their marriage.
Mr. Garcia retired in 1991 from management at Beatrice Hunt-Wesson in Oakdale. Mrs. Garcia retired in 1988 from Beatrice Hunt-Wesson as well.
The Garcias are the parents of two children, Larry Garcia of Oakdale and Char Sharp of Oakdale; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration was held at their favorite restaurant, Bamboo Garden in Oakdale, with the happy couple joined by family members.
