Humboldt State University may have had over 1500 graduates but there were two very special Knights Ferry graduates last weekend. It seemed like half the population of Knights Ferry traveled to Humboldt for the graduation on Mother’s Day weekend.

Kyle Hauskens graduated with her Bachelors in Social Work. Kyle had her family, Josh, Roxanne, Dane and grandparents, Dave and Laura Simons, fiancé, Connor Medeiros and his parents, Milton and Andrea Medeiros, and close friend Haley Garza cheering for her at graduation. They celebrated with a pool and spa party soon after. The party isn’t over for the Hauskens-Simons family because in two weeks, Kyle and Connor are getting married in Knights Ferry!

Hanna Martinelli-Holland graduated with her Bachelors in Child Development and minors in sign language and recreational leadership. Hanna had her family, Chris, Megan, Vincent, Troy, and James Peterson, grammy, Melinda Peterson, aunt and cousins, Alyson, Alexa, and Ava, uncle, aunt, and cousins, Jason, Tasha, Kaeli, and Deagan, and boyfriend, John Roe cheering for her at graduation. They celebrated at her house with two other softball teammate graduates and their families with tacos! Papa and Mimi, Bill and Kay Martinelli were there in spirit because Bill was taking it easy after surgery.

Do you know of other graduates with Knights Ferry roots? Please contact me!

My family spent a long weekend in Humboldt. We hiked the Prairie Creek Redwood trail and drove the Avenue of Giants. We didn’t find Big Foot but we did find some of the tallest trees in the world.

The staff at Knights Ferry School enjoyed a luncheon hosted by the Parent Teacher Club for staff appreciation week. The staff received small gifts and delicious food.

Registration for the 2018-2019 school year is officially open. Please visit to download and print paperwork. For questions please contact Anita in the office at 209-881-3382.

The river will continue to be extremely high until further notice. Please remind friends and family to wear life jackets. The river is extremely powerful and right now is not the time for beginner lessons. It is an adventurous experience but only when the highest of safety precautions are taken.

Upcoming Events/Meetings:
