Enough Is Enough

Dear Editor,

It is time to abandon the witch hunt to recall Linda Santos being conducted by Oakdale Irrigation District. Despite the alleged allegations of ‘Who is Bullying Who’ as submitted by Deanne Dalrymple in From Our Readers, March 29 issue of The Leader, both Altieri and Santos were vindicated by Superior Court Judge John Freeland which reversed Judge Beauchesne’s decision. Not satisfied with the court rulings, OID continues its efforts to remove Linda Santos from the Board. OID claims that a conflict of interest exists for Santos since she leases farmland to one of the lawsuit complainants, Robert Frobose. In the words of one recent political candidate; “What Difference Does It Make.” In November of 2015 we elected these two women to the Board to restore transparency to a Board composed of a “Good Old Boys Club” and hopefully Drain the Swamp. Let’s give Santos the opportunity to continue to accomplish the challenge she accepted. Perhaps we would be better focused on initiating a recall measure of the three male directors, given the acrimony and bitter discourtesy exhibited to these two women board members. Oakdale City Councilman Tom Dunlop was quoted in a Leader article of June 8, 2016 “They (The Board) need to get back to being policy makers.” In the same article, Dunlop said he saw the system degrading from elected officials being policy makers to certain directors micro-managing the district staff. Don’t be fooled by partisan politics; Vote NO on the April 25 recall.

Successful Show, Again

Dear Editor,

Thank you Saddle Club and volunteers for putting on this great event for the city. Whether rain or shine, the rodeo always goes on. I know there are a lot of people behind the scenes to make this happen as smoothly as it does and I would like to thank them. Having the rodeo in town helps local businesses and the economy. Even though we see this as a weekend event, the Saddle Club is busy planning this for an entire year. I would also like to congratulate the winners and thank all the participants and sponsors. The City of Oakdale appreciates you!

April Is National Car Care Month

Dear Editor,

It is tax time and although you may be thinking of ways to splurge with your tax refund, why not consider something more practical? By simply allocating a portion to vehicle maintenance and service, you will realize big dividends in the form of safety and dependability.

The financial benefits of auto care don’t stop there. Your vehicle will perform more efficiently, saving money at the pump, and its useful life will be extended, postponing the major expense of purchasing a new car.

With proper care, the typical vehicle should deliver at least 200,000 miles of safe, dependable performance. National Car Care Month in April is the ideal time to perform common routine maintenance and repairs, including checking the oil, filters and fluids, belts and hoses, brakes, tires and the HVAC system. The non-profit Car Care Council also recommends an annual tune-up and wheel alignment.

To help you get the most out of your vehicle investment and protect its long-term value, visit the Car Care Council’s website at www.carcare.org to order your free copy of the 80-page Car Care Guide and sign up for the free custom service schedule.

Sincerely,

Rich White, Executive Director
