Carl B. Brimm and Helen M. Brimm of Oakdale recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. The two wed at the Oakdale Methodist Church in February, 1953.

They met when Helen’s family moved next door to Carl’s sister, Syble Sill. They have lived in Oakdale since 1969 and have four children, Susan Gomes, Deborah Gomes and Beverly McGlothin, all of Oakdale, and Carl ‘Craig’ Brimm of Modesto. They also have three grandchildren.

Carl is a Korean War veteran, serving 1950 to 1952, worked for Dairy Maid for 20 years, then for Hunt Wesson Food for 25 years.

Helen worked for Woolworth, then worked at the Hunt Wesson cafeteria for four years, then ran the cafeteria for three years.

The couple had a big celebration 10 years ago to mark their 50th wedding anniversary. Their 60th was a small family gathering at Cool Hand Luke’s in Riverbank.
