Carolyn Dick, 86, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 2, with Bible in hand.

She was born in Fairmont, Minn. to Carl and Josephine Anderson. She attended school in Fairmont, Minn. where she developed friendships with her “Golden Girls” friends that lasted her entire life. She attended Miss Woods School for teachers where she began her teaching career.

She married Abraham Dick on June 26, 1949. They moved from Minnesota to Arizona, and on to California while expanding their family to include four boys.

After moving to Modesto in 1960, she began a 30-year tenure at Hart Ransom. Her love for the kids and staff stayed with her long past retirement.

Mrs. Dick and her husband moved to Oakdale in 2000, and developed strong ties with their new church family. Between church and RV traveling to Windmill Club events, they enjoyed their retirement years in Oakdale.

Her family thanks Tranquility Living and Hospice for their compassionate care in her final years.

She is survived by her husband, Abe; sons, Roger (Diane), Tom (Maureen), David (Nancy), Steven (Ellyn); 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Oakdale Community Church, corner of 8th and D streets.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her honor to hospice for their commitment to the community.
