An Oakdale woman has been arrested in Tuolumne County, facing charges of identity theft, conspiracy, grand theft and burglary.

Tuolumne County officials this week reported the arrest of Janitta Garcia, 33, of Oakdale in connection with a series of crimes in that county, including at locations in Sonora and Cold Springs. Routine patrol by sheriff’s deputies on Friday night, Feb. 2 in the Jamestown area resulted in them seeing a vehicle that matched the description of a car wanted in connection with those crimes. They observed the vehicle and watched as the driver went into the Chicken Ranch Casino. The driver, identified as Garcia, had previously been caught on surveillance video using a stolen credit card. Deputies entered the casino but Garcia reportedly went out the back door when she saw authorities, catching a ride to nearby Black Oak Casino in Tuolumne City. She was tracked to that location and subsequently taken into custody and booked at the Tuolumne County Jail.

Her bail on the multiple charges was set at $50,000 and authorities said they are still looking for a man believed to have been an accomplice in the thefts. He used a stolen credit card, charging more than $2,000 worth of purchases in both Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties, authorities said, making purchases in Oakdale and Sonora.
