Oakdale Man Sentenced To 10 Years For Molest

POSTED June 10, 2014 3:50 p.m.

On June 3, Stanislaus County District Attorney Birgit Fladager announced that Daniel John Ruiz, 26, of Oakdale, pleaded no contest to two counts of felony child molest on May 21. Deputy District Attorney Merrill Hoult prosecuted the case for the People.

The case was due to a July 28, 2013, arrest by the Oakdale Police Department when the two female victims, who were 9 and 12 years old, reported that their mother’s boyfriend, Ruiz, had molested them one night when their mother was at work.

Judge Linda McFadden sentenced Ruiz to 10 years in state prison on May 21. The crimes are considered “strikes” under California’s Three Strikes Law.

After his release from prison, Ruiz will be required to register as a sex offender.
