Oakdale Police in conjunction with the Stanislaus County Probation Department conducted a probation search on Friday, April 4. A total of six persons were arrested by police for offenses including possession of narcotics, paraphernalia, along with other probation violations.

During a contact in the 300 block of South Third Avenue, one of the probationary subjects fled officers, causing a search and eventual arrest of the suspect. During the search police located a small amount of methamphetamine and ammunition.

According to Oakdale Police Sergeant Joe Johnson, the Stanislaus Probation Department funded overtime for three of the police positions assigned to assist.

“We are fortunate enough to have the support of our city council and city manager who have seen fit to put aside some funds that allow us to conduct these types of operations,” Johnson said. “With our low staffing at present we wouldn’t be able to do this otherwise and the cooperation of the probation department is essential.”

Johnson added that with recent state actions regarding early release programs those on probation and parole would “slip through the cracks” in monitoring.

“We’re going to all we can to keep them honest and when they aren’t, they’re going to have some consequences,” Johnson said.
