Domestic Dispute Turns Into Barricaded Subject

 

Oakdale Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance where the wanted suspect from earlier in the day returned to Old Bluff Court on Thursday night, July 10 at 5 p.m. The incident resulted in the eventual arrest of one of the suspects for kidnapping and false imprisonment in addition to the previous domestic violence charges.

City Sees High Crime Weekend

A depleted Oakdale Police Force was busy over the weekend in gang related incidents that started with Friday afternoon gunshots and then greater problems of a stabbing outside the Battered Beaver Bar in the early morning hours on Saturday, a person shot outside 7-11 on West F Street at midnight Saturday night, and a forcible assault reported early Sunday morning.

Oakdale Police reported that units were kept busy responding to numerous call-to-call complaints about fireworks during the long Independence Day Holiday weekend, Friday, July 4 through Sunday, July 6. Police also were tied up providing traffic control assistance for a brush fire near the Oakdale Airport.

Reward Offered In Barry Case

The family and friends of Blake Barry, the victim of a hit and run fatal accident on Dec. 29, 2013 in Waterford, is offering a reward starting at $10,000 in the case. The reward will grow as donations are received, and is designed to reward persons for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the hit and run death of Barry. The incident occurred in the 12500 block of Dorsey Street in Waterford.

Police Sweep Nets Guns, Drugs

 

Oakdale Police in coordination with members of the Stanislaus Sheriff’s Department and Stanislaus Probation Department conducted a gang suppression operation and arrested three Oakdale residents during a probation search of a residence in the 1100 block of West G Street. Police recovered an illegal shotgun and narcotic offenses also resulted from the action.

An Oakdale man’s fixation on Oakdale Police Lieutenant Keri Redd, a 23-year veteran of the department, has landed him with a felony conviction and a 16-month prison sentence. The Stanislaus District Attorney’s Office released the information about the case this week.

Oakdale Man Sentenced To 10 Years For Molest

On June 3, Stanislaus County District Attorney Birgit Fladager announced that Daniel John Ruiz, 26, of Oakdale, pleaded no contest to two counts of felony child molest on May 21. Deputy District Attorney Merrill Hoult prosecuted the case for the People.
