POSTED January 7, 2014 3:50 p.m.

Students from 10 Stanislaus County schools, including Valley Home School, and two Stanislaus County organizations will participate in the Stanislaus County Mock Future City Competition on Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 4p.m. – 8p.m. at the Petersen Event Center, 720 12th St., Modesto. The final round of the competition is open to the public and begins at 6:15p.m.

Students work as a team with an educator and engineer mentor to plan cities using SimCity 4 Deluxe software and present their ideas before judges.

This event is designed to help prepare Stanislaus County students for this year’s Northern California Regional State Finals Future City Competition on Saturday, Jan. 25 in San Jose. The winner of the Regional State Finals will advance to the National Finals in Washington, D.C. in February.
