Lloyd Stueve loves sharing his passion for wagons. Horse drawn wagons, to be a little more specific.

This year, as Oakdale celebrates the 67th Annual Oakdale Rodeo, community members are in for a special treat.

As an annual participant in the Rodeo Parade, Stueve has partnered with his daughter Betsy Townsend to host the inaugural Bloomingcamp Wagon Round-Up BBQ.

A total of three horse drawn wagons will pick riders up at the conclusion of the rodeo parade on Saturday, April 14 and transport them out to Bloomingcamp Ranch for a BBQ lunch provided by the Tri-Tipery. The cost is $20. In addition to the barbecue there will be games, music and refreshments. Seating on the wagons is limited, the Bloomingcamp Ranch Barbecue is open to everyone. The pie shop will also be open.

“I’m excited that Betsy and Jake have Bloomingcamp’s,” Stueve said of his daughter and son-in-law, noting a longtime friendship with Joy Bloomingcamp and her late husband Bill.

“My thought was that some people might be interested in going out to Bloomingcamp’s for a little lunch,” he said. “It might be a nice experience if they’ve never been in a wagon before.”

To reserve a spot or get additional information on the wagon experience due during rodeo weekend, contact Betsy Townsend at (209) 840-4884 or e-mail bloomingcamp@gmail.com. Spots are limited.

“There’s a lot of people that can’t ride a saddle horse,” Stueve continued, “but they can sure ride in a wagon.”
