Women’s Connection

Oakdale Women’s Connection will host its monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 8 at Papapolloni Mediterranean Bistro, 1214 W. F St, Oakdale. Buffet lunch is served from noon to 1:30 p.m. Cost $18 per person. Guest speaker and Half Dome climber Danita Schwemer will speak to the group. AAUW Session

On Thursday, Feb. 8, AAUW member Evangelina Paoluccio, a graduate of University of the Pacific and the Engineering Manager at Inventive Resources Inc., will talk to American Association of University Women (AAUW) Oakdale-Riverbank-Escalon Branch members and guests about a pilot project the company is involved in using non-chemical Ultra Violet light to kill invasive aquatic plants in the heavily infested marina at Lake Tahoe. The dinner meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Papapolloni Bistro at 1214 W. F St., in Oakdale. Reservations are needed. Blood Drive Set

The Oakdale Police Department is hosting a blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross, the event scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 8. Each blood donation can help save up to three lives. Ongoing severe winter weather across the country has more than doubled the number of canceled American Red Cross blood drives causing a blood and platelet donation shortfall. The blood drive will be hosted at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

State Date

Healthy Aging Association presents “Date at the State” on Friday, Feb. 9 at the State Theater, Modesto. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Wine tasting, live entertainment, photos and appetizers. The movie Footloose will be the featured film. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased on line at www.healthyagingassociation.org or by calling 525-4670.

 

Accordion Club

 

The next gathering of the Good Time Accordion Club is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Ave., Escalon. The monthly meeting and social is open to accordion fans and performers of all skill levels. Admission is $5 at the door. For more information, call Karl Wucherer at 209-556-3105.
