Civil War Hits Ferry This Weekend

The Civil War comes alive at the Knights Ferry Civil War Days event, put on by the American Civil War Association this weekend.

Journey to the Ferry for a historic step back in time on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Knights Ferry historic covered bridge area. Battle times on Saturday are at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.; battle times on Sunday are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This annual event draws visitors from around the area for Civil War reenactments where people can view and interact with living history. There will be ongoing demonstrations of the soldiers’ daily life, as well as the women and children of the American Civil War and Victorian era. Between battles, re-enactors are available at their camps to demonstrate daily activities of the time from cooking, to entertainment, to trades. The two-day event typically occurs rain or shine and is at the Stanislaus River Parks area in Knights Ferry, 17968 Covered Bridge Road, 12 miles east of Oakdale off State Route 108/120.

There is also a spaghetti dinner served up on Saturday night.
