In honor of National Arbor Day, the Oakdale Garden Club will plant a Blue Oak Tree in memory of Oakdale Police Officer Paul Katuszonek on Friday, April 26, at 2 pm. The tree will be planted in the northwest corner of Valley View Park overlooking the Stanislaus River.

Police Chief Lester Jenkins will offer remarks about Officer Katuszonek and will discuss the importance of the Blue Oak Tree to the area. The public is invited to attend. The site is a short walk from the parking area.

Officer Paul Katuszonek, a five-year veteran of the department, was tragically killed  when a semi-truck ran into the back of his vehicle stopped for highway construction along Highway 132 on Nov. 8, 2012.
