With early deadlines for the Labor Day holiday The Leader was unable to post any CenCal Youth Football scores in the Sept. 6 edition. Here is a recap of the Oakdale Stampede from weeks two and three of the season, as well as a look ahead to week four.

In week two Oakdale traveled Central Valley High School to take on the Ceres Seahawks. In varsity action Oakdale fell 24-14 for its first loss of the season. The Stampede responded with a 40-0 home victory in week three over the Turlock Pride. Oakdale will host the Livingston Wolves on Saturday night inside The Corral with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Oakdale is currently 2-1 on the season and are in third place in the AFC standings.

Junior Varsity Stampede is 3-0 after victories over Ceres and Turlock. A 46-0 week two road win over the Seahawks set up Oakdale’s home opener against the Pride in week three. Oakdale defeated Turlock 22-12. Oakdale is currently tied for first place in the standings with the Turlock Bulldogs. The junior varsity team will host Livingston on Saturday with kickoff currently scheduled for 5 p.m.

The pee wee Stampede is currently 1-2 on the year. Following a heartbreaking 20-19 road loss to Manteca in the season opener, Oakdale bounced back in week two with a 41-16 road win over the Seahawks. This past weekend Oakdale hosted the Pride where Oakdale lost 28-0. Oakdale looks to regroup in week four when they host the Wolves at 3 p.m.

Kicking off the full day of football will be the rookies, who host the Wolves at 1 p.m. The rookies are first year youngsters who are learning the fundamentals of the game, and no scores are kept.
