The Oakdale Mustangs boy golfers are coming off an outstanding week and sit at 12-1 at the Spring Break. Oakdale knocked off Sierra and Kimball this past week and are currently tied for first place in the Valley Oak League.

Oakdale hosted both Sierra and Kimball at Oakdale Golf and Country Club for a pair of Valley Oak League matchups and came out on top. On Wednesday, April 12 the boys knocked off Sierra 196-262 and followed up with a 199-244. The latest wins put Oakdale’s winning streak in VOL play at six straight matches.

In the victory over Sierra, Oakdale’s David Myrtakis shot an incredible five under par to help lead the Mustangs to the win. Josh Barrera also had an impressive day for Oakdale as he shot two over par. Rounding out the day were Calvin Reed (42) Zackary Tamburrino (42) Max Moore (43) and Tristian Jaramillo (46).

With the rain falling on Thursday, Oakdale still managed to get in a round with Kimball. Making the most of the scattered showers, the Mustangs dominated the Jaguars. Leading the charge for Oakdale was Josh Barrera shooting one over par at 37. Myrtakis was one stroke behind Barrera at 38. Tamburrino finished at 40 for and capping off the nine hole round were Reed (41), Moore (43) and Jaramillo (46).

The Mustangs are off this week for Spring Break, and return to action against East Union on Thursday, April 27. The road showdown with the Lancers is the season finale before they head into the post season. The two-day Valley Oak League tournament is set for May 1 and May 2 at Sierra.
