This past fall the Oakdale girls golf team won the Valley Oak League. The Oakdale boys are on pace for matching the girls championship run as they are currently 7-0 in VOL action.

The boys played three league contests in recent days and have yet to be challenged this season in league match play. In the trio of wins, the boys defeated Lathrop in a no contest, Manteca 204-296 and Kimball 206-256.

Oakdale’s David Myrtakis shot a team low 39 against Lathrop to help lead the Mustangs over the shorthanded Spartans. In the same contest Max Moore shot a 40 for Oakdale. Rounding out the day for the Mustangs were Calvin Reed (41), Tristan Jaramillo (47), Paul Goodreau (53) and Jack Verdegaal (54).

The next day Oakdale defeated Manteca at Oakdale Golf and Country Club to keep the unbeaten streak alive. For the second straight event Myrtakis finished on top of the leaderboard at 36. That was one stroke ahead of Reed, who came in at 37. Finishing off the day for Oakdale were Jaramillo (43), Moore (44), Goodreau (44) and Josh Barrera (48).

On Thursday, March 23 the boys headed to Tracy Golf and Country Club to take on Kimball. Oakdale won by 50 strokes and were led by Calvin Reed (39). Zachary Tamburrino and Myrtakis (41) were next on the leaderboard. Moore (42), Jaramillo (43) and Barrera (45) rounded out the Mustangs’ scorecard.

Oakdale returns to action today, March 29, on the road against Central Catholic at the SOS Club with a 3:30 p.m. tee time. Oakdale will remain on the road against Sierra on Thursday, March 30 and again Monday, April 3 against East Union. Oakdale will return home to host Sierra on Wednesday, April 12.
