Condit Campaigns For Congress
Congressional candidate Chad Condit (Independent -10th District) was walking precincts in Oakdale during the past week and spreading the word that most of what is wrong with Washington is caused by partisan gridlock and the best way to end partisanship is to elect independent candidates who are not bound to either the Republicans or the Democrats.
Irrigation Districts Win Court Decision
A federal plan to essentially drain New Melones when needed to protect salmon in the Delta has been tossed by U.S. District Court Judge Oliver Wagner.
Filing Period Open For November Election
Candidates interested in running for local office during the Nov. 8, 2011 Consolidated District Election may apply during the filing period which runs now through Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, according to Lee Lundrigan, Stanislaus County Clerk Recorder and Registrar of Voters. Candidates, including incumbents, must file nomination documents during this period in order to file for office and appear on the ballot.
