Transitioning from my Reporter role at the Oakdale Leader was necessary in my life for a number of reasons. The one most at the core were my children. I knew I needed to work full-time. I knew I needed to stay local, but I desperately needed flexibility.
A few weeks back I shared my struggle with a passion for eating. First, I must clarify … I'm not what one would call a 'foodie,' my palate is pretty simple. Fine dining is nice and fun on occasion, my previous piece was primarily about my love of simple fresh foods - produce and proteins … And of course water. Lots and lots of water.
Each year I pen this piece or one similar, I think the same thing ... I need to put this topic to rest. Then- before I know it- I'm faced once again with the task and challenge of the birthdays. Yes, plural, the celebration of birth of both my children 24 hours apart (with three years in between).
You know your job is different when you spend the morning prior to starting your work day in tears. That was my experience last Thursday as I prepared myself to cover the Every 15 Minutes assembly at Oakdale High School.
