As 2013 comes to an end we reflect on the many things that make living in a small community so special. Neighbors are more than neighbors, they become family. They enjoy the good times with you and they suffer through the bad.
What a special night it was in Valley Home! Stars lit up the night sky as car after car pulled into the Valley Home School parking lot. Friendly holiday greetings passed between old friends and new. The magic of this Christmas season was everywhere. This incredible evening was made possible by the hard work of Bonnie Gellerman, Tom Cassinetto, and the staff of the after school program.
Our 2013 Grand Marshal, Tony Taro, reports having a great time on Friday evening. Christmas in Valley Home brought out much of the community to enjoy a wonderful night filled with lots of fun, friendship, and very good food! A very touching part of the evening came as everyone gathered round the tree and joined together in caroling as Wyatt Wucherer threw the switch that brought our community tree to life. The little tree glistened with lights all aglow, it seemed almost magical…what a special evening! The night was frosty cold outside as the warmth of our school gym ...
Valley Home 4-Hers held their annual Christmas party this week. It was filled with lots of laughter and tons of fun. The 4-Hers each brought a white elephant item to exchange…what a bunch of fun they had! During the evening they enjoyed Christmas cookies and holiday punch. While they were busy playing games and enjoying refreshments they were stunned to hear a loud crash, almost as if someone had landed on top of the building. Before anyone could dash outside to see what all of the clatter was about the door flew open and in came a jolly old ...
We wish each of you a very happy Thanksgiving! We hope you are surrounded by the warmth of many friends and family on this Thanksgiving Day. For many of us this holiday will be a time spent with loved ones…eating too much turkey…and being thankful for our blessings.
It is hard to believe that it is already this first week of November. As you drive around our beautiful community take notice of the brightly colored fall foliage throughout. The leaves are turning the loveliest shades of yellow and orange. Autumn has certainly arrived in Valley Home!
Valley Home would like to send a huge "Thank You" to all those who helped to make our 2013 Fall Harvest Festival a wonderful success. Those who donated, those who volunteered and everyone who attended, thank you for making such a nice evening possible. The sights and sounds of the night, along with many hard working folks will long be remembered.
The Valley Home Hawks welcomed the Knights Ferry football and volleyball teams this past Friday. Both teams played great and had a great time. Once again Mr. Mike had the field looking great even adding red, white and blue in the end zones. Valley Home would like to thank Knights Ferry for making the trip to play the Hawks. We certainly need to mention the super snack bar run by school staff. It's amazing how many hats one must wear in a small school setting. The day would not have happened without the great coaches from both schools...a ...
The Valley Home Hawks volleyball and football teams were all in action this past Friday. All teams did very well, everyone played hard, and everyone including the spectators had a great time. Special thanks to our coaches and a huge thank you to custodian Mike for getting the field ready for game day. The football players were especially proud of the Valley Home Hawk that Mr. Mike painted on the playing field!
Glenn and Laura Burghardt's grandson Ryan Burghardt was home this weekend for a very special occasion. Art and Tami Tharpe held their annual lobster feed and Ryan brought good friend Anna Laura to meet Tami. Tami was Ryan's first and second grade teacher and has had a tremendous influence on Ryan's life. Art and Tami host this spectacular gathering every year with this year being a near record for folks attending! We're told the pig came out of the ground just perfect and the lobster was delicious. Wow, what a party! We also want to congratulate ...
