"Read Across America" was celebrated in Valley Home this past week. With March 2nd being Dr. Seuss' birthday, our Valley Home students had the chance to celebrate by reading their favorite books. Later that evening many families enjoyed a dinner of bright green eggs and ham. What a fun way to pay tribute to Dr. Seuss!

A patriotic day at Valley Home School ... KAT Country Radio made the trip to Valley Home! On Friday, February 22nd our 4th through 8th grade students were showcased saying the "Pledge of Allegiance." Proud parents, friends and neighbors crowded around any available radio to hear the joyful voices of our students! It's so nice to see the almond blossoms! For many this is a sneezing situation, but after the winter we have all had it is also a wonderful sign of a beautiful spring just ahead. It has definitely been a hard, wet, windy and rainy winter! Again this past weekend the wind and rain took down several trees in Valley Home. Trees were down on each campus at the school on Friday. Setting the tone for this evening was the very talented auctioneer, Dalton Breazeale! His amazing talent kept the bids and the excitement going strong all evening. February is a busy month for our high school FFA students. A fabulous trip to the floral market in San Francisco, hands on trip to the poultry show and on Wednesday, February 22, our Oakdale FFA will host their annual cake auction! This coming Tuesday is a very special evening for our Valley Home 4-H! Please come out and support your 4-Hers as they raise much needed funds for club projects and activities. The old fashioned Box Social will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the school gym. Fantastic items will be up for bid! Fun ... and more fun in Valley Home! At their January community meeting our Valley Home 4-Hers made big plans for the February Box Social. The 4-Hers hold the old-fashioned box social each year to raise much needed funds for club activities. Each 4-Her will be responsible for bringing items to the box social. Christmas came early, a magical weekend unfolded throughout our area as our Oakdale High Mustangs showed the world what it means to be a Mustang football player! Hard work, early morning practices, after school practices, in the extreme heat, working out in 100-degree weather, hitting the weight room, it all paid in dividends when this powerhouse football team defeated Bishop's High School in San Diego, California!

Community members have worked hours and hours to ensure a Christmas celebration with many special memories! Knights Ferry News

Knights Ferry Community Club Christmas dinner was well attended. There was a lot of food and good cheer. Oakdale High School's choir, under the direction of Bryan Mills, performed. Student Thomas Mason sang Mr. Grinch to the audience and it was great! The choir sang and signed "Silent Night". A group of four girls put together a medley of songs that they sang, very cute! The program ended with a sing-a-long. What a great way to start the season!
