Our Valley Home Hawks celebrated their annual Jog-A-Thon last Thursday. The Easter Bunny was on hand to watch the kids run and walk. It was obvious that everyone had some fun. After the jogging, the candy jump was held and the prizes were awarded. Maddie Jones' name was drawn as the winner of the iPad Mini device. The best decorated T-shirt awards went to Brandy Seaton for the K-3 grades and Stephanie Lee for the 4-8 grades. Valley Home News for March 27, 2013

It is that time of year once again when our Valley Home students are stretching their legs and toning up their muscles for the school annual Jog-a-Thon on Thursday, March 28th. Students are decorating their own T-shirts again this year. We have received word that prizes will be awarded for the best T-shirt design for both K-3 and 4 thru 8. Additional contests and prizes will also be awarded. Just a reminder that Spring break begins Friday!

Valley Home 4-H Annual Club Presentation Night will be held on Thursday, March 21 at St John's Church here in Valley Home. The Presentation will commence at 6 p.m. in the Church Hall. This will be the final dress rehearsal for club members attending County Presentation Day. The event provides a wonderful opportunity to come and listen to Valley Home and Orange Blossom 4-H speech project members give their presentations. Things will really be hopping here in our Valley Home community on Saturday, March 30th! We have received word that the grounds located at the "old" school will be visited by our friend, The Easter Bunny! Our furry little friend has sent a special message that, with the help of our Valley Home 4-Hers, they are planning on having hundreds of colorful eggs hidden in marked areas of the playing field. We have received word that our Red Hat Queen, Margo and our Valley Home members of Oakdale's Fun Lovin' Ladies welcomed in our beautiful spring-like weather with a delicious luncheon and meeting at Bella Italia Restaurant in Modesto. The members of the group were able to enjoy viewing all the blossoming Almond orchards they passed along the way.

This week's Valley Home News leads off with the news received that Bob Yuskaitis our Valley Home friend and dedicated Neighborhood Watch Patrolman for our community was involved in a serious automobile accident on February 11th while crossing Highway 120 at Pioneer Avenue. It appears he was driving home after an evening patrol and his and another vehicle collided, with his car rolled and he received serious, multiple injuries. He is recuperating in a facility in Modesto. The residents of the Greater Valley Home Area wish Bob Yuskailis a full recovery.

It sounds like our Valley Home 4-Hers not only had a great time at their February meeting, but also made lots of money at their annual Box Social on February 5th. The Box Social provides an evening of fun for all the members, as they all participate in seeing who can create the prettiest decorated box of goodies to be auctioned off at the meeting. Where did all the neighbors go? Unbelievably, our Valley Home community was turned into a ghost town this past weekend, nary a soul could be found and our normally busy streets were empty of traffic. Our members of Oakdale's Fun Lovin' Ladies are all getting gussied up in their purple outfits and making that important decision on which one of their Red Hats to select for their February 6th meeting. The group will travel to Modesto this month to partake of the cuisine offered at Minnie's Restaurant. Oak Valley Art Society members met at the Escalon Library on Saturday, and members enjoyed a very informative program on art techniques offered by long time member, and prize winning artist, Dorothy Girling. Due to a mix-up, the artist scheduled to demonstrate that day was unavailable and the group was treated to a very enjoyable program by Dorothy, who offered helpful hints to the group on working with pastels and various and helpful hints on that medium.

Our Valley Home MAC committee will be meeting tonight, January 16 at the Valley Home school. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. in the school library. These meetings are a wonderful way to keep the line between the residents and the county representatives. There will be reports of what has happened since last meeting, what is scheduled to happen in the near future and also an opportunity to report a problem that may need to be forwarded to the county leaders. Be at the meeting and see what is going on in your part of the county.

We received word that Cooper Bartholomew had a great time celebrating his sixth birthday on New Year's Day. Cooper celebrated with friends and family on New Year's Eve. We hope that Santa was able to make his visit to our Valley Home area and deliver a sleigh full of Christmas cheer even though he was greeted by rainy weather! Valley Home residents were still able to enjoy wending their way through our streets in the rain, and enjoy the colorful display of lighted homes. Even though we had to undergo heavy rain at times, the lights were enveloped in a misty glow that was beautiful to see.

Lots of excitement emanating from Valley Home School today as the Valley Home PTC throw open the doors for their annual Christmas gift store for the students. The Christmas Store is a much anticipated highlight of the year for the students. Students have an opportunity to look for and purchase gifts for their families. Prices are kept low and members of the PTC are on hand to wrap the items the students purchase so their selections are all ready for Christmas giving. This week we highlight a very important person who is active in both Valley Home and Escalon. This young man is Bryce McKenzie! Bryce attends Valley Home School and is a very busy guy. Here in Valley Home we love to celebrate the good in life! Recently one of our favorite Valley Home families reached a big milestone. Jeff and Sally Chrisman celebrated 23 years of marriage on June 15th, which was also Father's Day this year. The joy of summertime memories...it was another special June visit for lifelong friends Taylor Denman and Jenna Heaton! It always amazes me, the bond these two friends share. Becoming best friends in kindergarten at Valley Home School, the friendship survived long distance when the Denman family moved to Texas when the girls were about twelve years old.
