Happy New Year to each of you! Once again, as I do each year I will share a very special tradition in our home. Each year we start cutting up newspaper confetti days before New Year's Eve. It is with much sadness and sorrow that we speak of the passing of Ty Jones. The world has lost a tremendous young man. Ty was so vibrant, so loving and caring. Ty was just nineteen when he was called home on December 18th. He leaves his heartbroken family and a multitude of devoted friends to cherish his memory. Although only on this earth for a short time, Ty's legacy and laughter will live on in all those who loved him so much. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ty's family and friends at this very sad time.

A very special wedding! Former Valley Home resident Judah Burton and his lovely bride Torrie Koller were married Wednesday evening December 6, Las Vegas, Nevada. Torrie and Judah had planned their nuptials for months, making sure every detail was perfect! Our Valley Home School parade on Halloween Day was a huge success! A very special "Thank You" goes out to Stanislaus Consolidated firefighters, Dan Cummins, Dustin Andersen, and Dan Lopes. After working most of the night on a house fire, they came to Valley Home to hand out sweet treats to grateful goblins. Having them here made our day very special! Every resident in our Valley Home, Knights Ferry, Oakdale and surrounding area, please be sure to stay updated on the issues surrounding the dismissal of our Fire Chief Rick Weigele. A few years ago our Oakdale Rural Fire District became part of the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. and continues through 8:30 p.m. Remember to bring your homemade scarecrows to enter in the scarecrow contest. Today, September 27th is the deadline to sign up for the CPR class to be held in Knights Ferry. This important class is offered free and is a non-certificate class. There is no age limit. Valley Home folks are invited to sign up through this evening by calling me, Winnie, at 209-985-5233. The class will be held on October 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the Knights Ferry Community Hall. There is room for 30 participants and is on a first come, first served basis!

All are invited and encouraged to attend the first meeting of Citizens United. An important discussion on funding for Fire and Law Enforcement!
