Our Valley Home Silent Film devotees enjoyed an afternoon of "old time" movie fun on Sunday afternoon as we watched Ronald (Buster Keaton) do his best to win the love of his college days, Mary, who is being pursued by his competition, her jock boyfriend, Jeff, who takes her hostage in her dormitory room and tries to get her to marry him. Mary manages to contact Ronald by telephone, who, in a sudden show of athleticism, sprints to her Dormitory building, pole vaults into her window, and fights off Jeff by throwing household objects at him. Mary agrees to marry ...

We couldn't ask for a nicer day weather-wise than what we enjoyed on Saturday afternoon when volunteers gathered at the Valley Home Community Park for a tree planting. Bud Ferreila drove his truck carrying a power auger and parked next to our Community Park, then went to work digging a spot for the planting of the Colorado Blue Spruce which is now the official Valley Home Community Christmas Tree. The tree was a gift from Morris Nursery which was donated to the park last December where it quickly became one of the highlights of the Valley Home annual 4-H ...

Valley Home residents were saddened to receive word that long time resident of our community, John De Boer passed away on April 13, 2012. John was very active in our community and farm organizations and was the recipient of many awards for his services. He had a long time involvement with the Farm Bureau. One of the most notable accomplishments while he was on the board was helping to write the Williamson Act. When one wishes to put their land under the Williamson Act, they sign a contract that requires them to keep their land in farming, ensuring that the ...

Valley Home News for March 21, 2012

We always enjoy taking a step back in Valley Home history when winter doldrums seem to arrive in our community. Let's take a giant step back into 1944, serving during World War II in the month of December to be specific, and take glimpse of what some of our young male residents were doing during that time period. We found some of our Valley Home young men involved in the War action, both during the western and European action. Sgt. Paul Wieber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Wieber and a graduate of Oakdale High School had already served ...
