We always enjoy sharing in the joy of birthday festivities for one of our favorite Valley Home residents. Hazel Henry had a wonderful day from morning to night enjoying festivities hosted by members of her family who gathered to help her celebrate her birthday on May 9th. Hazel tells us she had "a wonderful birthday and Mother's Day all in the same day." She tells us that her son-in-law and daughter, Frank and Patsy Carpenter came from Layton, Nevada, and cooked a delicious turkey dinner to celebrate the occasion.
This week's Valley Home News came close to not being. We had a power failure here at the ranch lasting for four days that could not be immediately remedied, and in fact is still not working. A very nice PG&E worker came to our assistance first and turned off the electricity so that repairs could be made. Fortunately, we have a wonderful friend who is an electrician and general handyman, who came to our aid and in addition to working many hours installing new wiring, poles and gadgets also generously loaned us the use of his gas generator ...

Gray skies and cold temperature didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the children who turned out on Saturday to participate in the annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by our Valley Home 4-H members. MaryBeth Carpenter did a wonderful job of chairing this fun event. MaryBeth handed out beautiful chocolate bunnies to the winners and also gave out delightful gift packs to those who won for having found the most eggs. MaryBeth had everyone count their eggs at the close of the hunt, and it was discovered that the average basket held approximately 35 to 40 eggs. Valley Home is proud ...
