Valley Home News For June 17, 2009

This week's news starts with the report of an incident that happened at the Valley Home School on Sunday, June 7. At about 2:30 p.m. a young boy was riding his bicycle in the area when a man in a white truck jumped out of the truck and assaulted the boy, shoving him to the ground, and stole his bicycle. The bicycle was put it into the back of the truck and the man drove off.

Valley Home 4-H members celebrated their final meeting of the year on Tuesday, June 2, with their traditional "end of the year" barbecue! The group met at the Valley Home School old campus, with the Club providing hot dogs and the members bringing either a dessert or side dish. The food was great and there was lots of fun all around. There is excitement in the air as members are beginning to get ready now for the fair this summer.

A bad break ... Just as irrigation season is beginning our wonderful hard working neighbor Darlene Nunes suffered a broken foot. The break was very serious and will really be hard on Darlene. The Nunes family is well known throughout our Valley Home community for their dedication to this rural way of life we all love so much! Darlene and Alvin just give a holler if you need anything ... you know you have a community that thinks the world of you both and is ready to help in any way needed!

Hot, yummy cinnamon rolls ready to eat...come by tomorrow, Thursday, March 19 and support our Valley Home students! Cinnamon rolls will be available at 8 a.m. for purchase. The early morning delicacy will be $5.00 for a tin of four delicious rolls. What a great way to start the day...a tasty treat while helping raise funds for our students Asilomar trip! Be sure to get there early, sale will end when cinnamon rolls are sold out.

This week is an exciting week for future kindergarten students at Valley Home School! Today, Wednesday March 11, is registration day! It's always such a big day for the youngsters and parents alike ... It's a bittersweet time for many parents as they realize how quickly their little one is growing. Registration will be held on the Texas Avenue campus from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Valley Home News-3-4-15

Our Valley Home 4-Hers met last evening for their monthly community meeting. The 4-Hers are holding a drive thru Tri Tip dinner this Friday evening. The Tri Tip will be smoked and the dinner will have sides of beans, dinner rolls and salad. The dinner will serve a family of four and the cost is $35. Proceeds will go toward the 4-Hers trip to Monterey Aquarium in May! For more information you may call 4-H president Sierra Haynes at 596-6672 or Community Leader Sean Haynes at 324-7286. VALLEY HOME NEWS- 2-25-15

This week we salute a local hero. Gene Benedix was wounded in combat in 1951 during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart commendation. He never received the actual Purple Heart medal. There will be a special presentation by Congressman Jeff Denham on April 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Gladys Lemmons Senior Center to present this medal. Please try to attend. This past week I had the opportunity to visit with a young man I hadn't seen for a very long time. Seeing Cy Chrisman all grown up was a reminder to me of how quickly the years are going by. It's always such a great pleasure for me when one of our Valley Home young folks drops by our home for a visit when home from college. A great chance to support our Valley Home School ... Thursday, February 12th "On the Scene Cuisine" will be providing a tri-tip and ribs dinner. The dinner is a fundraiser for the Asilomar field trip costs! Each dinner will include tri-tip and ribs, five cheese homemade macaroni and cheese, molasses baked beans, buttered corn, garlic bread, and dessert! Dinner pick up will be between 4 and 6 p.m. Dinner tickets are $18 per meal. For more information you can call the school at 847-0117.
