The Bryhni family, who are all big Giants fans, traveled to San Francisco this past weekend. Kathy, Brooke, Sierra and Garrett enjoyed a tremendous outing by the Giants and also appreciated the opportunity to be part of such a moving tribute to 9/11. Maybe the family should go to more games as it seems to have brought luck to the team by the Bay!

We enjoyed a recent opportunity to meet and visit with W.C. Koch, a cousin of Cindy Fleischer, a former long time resident of our Valley Home community, who dropped by to bring us up to date on the Fleischer family activities. Cindy and Chuck now reside at Dardanelle, where she and Chuck own a grocery store, gas station and lodgings. The couple were always quite active in our Valley Home, especially with our community and Volunteer Firefighter activities before moving up to their current location.

Your reporter was unable to visit the Fair and see our 4-H'ers in action, however, one of our readers sent me some E-mail photos of the heifers being shown by Jennifer Schaefle, Gracie Azevedo and Justin Azevedo. The smiles on our 4-H'ers faces really brightened my day and made up for not being able to attend the event myself. The smiles just radiated as the threesome displayed their animals for the Judges. Gracie was the recipient of 2nd place overall showmanship and Justin received 5th place in overall showmanship. Jennifer received a 5th place award in dairy cattle ...

Garret named his animal "All That" and his entry came away with the title of Supreme Champion Market Hog, and thanks to the efforts of "Friends of Garret" he received $41.00 a pound, $11,152, for his 272-pound hog. We received word that "All That" will happily ...

Valley Home 4-Hers held their annual Christmas party this week. It was filled with lots of laughter and tons of fun. The 4-Hers each brought a white elephant item to exchange…what a bunch of fun they had! During the evening they enjoyed Christmas cookies and holiday punch. While they were busy playing games and enjoying refreshments they were stunned to hear a loud crash, almost as if someone had landed on top of the building. Before anyone could dash outside to see what all of the clatter was about the door flew open and in came a jolly old ...

The Valley Home Hawks welcomed the Knights Ferry football and volleyball teams this past Friday. Both teams played great and had a great time. Once again Mr. Mike had the field looking great even adding red, white and blue in the end zones. Valley Home would like to thank Knights Ferry for making the trip to play the Hawks. We certainly need to mention the super snack bar run by school staff. It's amazing how many hats one must wear in a small school setting. Valley Home News Week of June 5, 2013

Dear readers, sitting down to write this week's Valley Home News is one of the most difficult things I have had to do during the 35 years I have had the privilege of reporting Valley Home News! During that space of time, I missed turning in only two columns and the Leader missed printing another two out of an approximate total of 1860 ...
