Valley Home School Math teacher Cory Reid held a very informative meeting regarding the new approach to Mathematics at the sixth grade level. Common Core, as it is known, will be more hands-on and in-depth. Rather than rushing through each lesson in order to meet standards, teachers will be able to slow down a bit in an effort to ensure that each student is learning and understanding the concept. Tests will now be taken online and are reported to be very difficult. Although there are challenges ahead we have high hopes that Common Core will bring positive results. We are ...

As 2013 comes to an end we reflect on the many things that make living in a small community so special. Neighbors are more than neighbors, they become family. They enjoy the good times with you and they suffer through the bad.
What a special night it was in Valley Home! Stars lit up the night sky as car after car pulled into the Valley Home School parking lot. Friendly holiday greetings passed between old friends and new. The magic of this Christmas season was everywhere. This incredible evening was made possible by the hard work of Bonnie Gellerman, Tom Cassinetto, and the staff of the after school program.
Our 2013 Grand Marshal, Tony Taro, reports having a great time on Friday evening. Christmas in Valley Home brought out much of the community to enjoy a wonderful night filled with lots of fun, friendship, and very good food! A very touching part of the evening came as everyone gathered round the tree and joined together in caroling as Wyatt Wucherer threw the switch that brought our community tree to life. The little tree glistened with lights all aglow, it seemed almost magical…what a special evening! The night was frosty cold outside as the warmth of our school gym ...
Valley Home 4-Hers held their annual Christmas party this week. It was filled with lots of laughter and tons of fun. The 4-Hers each brought a white elephant item to exchange…what a bunch of fun they had! During the evening they enjoyed Christmas cookies and holiday punch. While they were busy playing games and enjoying refreshments they were stunned to hear a loud crash, almost as if someone had landed on top of the building. Before anyone could dash outside to see what all of the clatter was about the door flew open and in came a jolly old ...

The focus now is on school attendance, the students are encouraged to make every effort to be at school each day. Special prizes will be awarded during the year.
Bushwacker ... The greatest bucking bull of all time! We are so fortunate to have this magnificent bull living right here in Valley Home. It is such a treat when you drive by the beautiful green pastures he calls home and catch a glimpse of the iconic Mr. Bushwacker. Watching him last Monday on TV as he bucked his way into history becoming the 2014 Bucking Bull of the year made for a fantastic evening! As our family of Bushwacker fans gathered around the TV, we watched, yelled, and clapped as the famous bulls performed one after the other trying to ...

It's Harvest Festival Time in Valley Home! What a wonderful Autumn feeling has settled over Valley Home. As they days get shorter and the nights grow colder we know we have said goodbye to another California summer. Years past in Valley Home at this time of year it was rice harvest time. I remember looking across the fields of freshly irrigated rice in Valley Home and thinking what a lovely and peaceful place to live! With a brilliant sunset sinking into the evening sky, the fiery orange, the hot pinks, the hues of deep blue with purple mixed in ...
Our Oakdale High Football team was well represented this past Saturday at Levi's Stadium! Mustang colors dominated the crowd with the opposing colors of Buffalo green being not so dominant. The game was a thriller with our Mustangs coming out on top. Our cheerleaders and football players were brilliant and represented our area with tremendous pride and hard work. Go Mustangs!
