Sad news in Valley Home with the passing of a most caring man, Mr. Harold Pope. Mr. Pope left this world to be with the angels on October 31st. He was fondly known as the teacher/principal who gave his all to Valley Home. His wonderful life was blessed with daughters Sandy Mercer, Barbara Aker and son Keith Pope and the late Cheryl Hayes. He was a devoted grandfather to eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

From 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, Valley Home School will welcome everyone to a wonderful evening of fun! A big thank you to Cost Less Market for their help in making our Valley Home Community Park Fundraiser such a great success Cost Less Market along with all of you who purchased dinner tickets or sent donations will ensure our little community park expenses (taxes, PGE, etc.) will be taken care of. After expenses, the total profit is $2004.47 ... we actually received another call this week that one more donation will be mailed in. So thankful for all the wonderful folks who care so much!

Our Valley Home students are excited as August 31st approaches. On Monday August 31st the students will visit the school library and the PTC scholastic book faire! Each year the Parent Teacher Club sponsors the book faire under the leadership of Michelle McKenzie and her dedicated crew! The first week of school has come and gone. For our family it was a time of many firsts! We counted our blessings as little Millie started her first day of Kindergarten ... a smart, patient and kind teacher made her first day perfect, she couldn't wait to go back. Sad news in Valley Home. Our Valley Home community, really this entire area, has suffered a terrible loss with the passing of Ryan Russell. Ryan was a true Valley Home boy growing up along with his beloved brothers Randy and Danny Russell in Valley Home. The brothers spent much of their young lives on the irrigation ditches, pastures, creek banks in Valley Home and on the Stanislaus River in Knights Ferry. National Night Out ... hope everyone is making plans to come to our community park this Tuesday, August 2nd!! This is an important night for all communities across the country! In Valley Home folks come out of their homes and enjoy an evening of friendship, while sending the message that crime is not welcome in our very special community! Usually the fire and law enforcement are at the park and always visit and have a nice time with everyone. The evening will start at 6:00pm.
