Attendance was high on Saturday for the Valley Home PTC sponsored Harvest Festival. There was lots to see and do for the attending crowd. Excitement has been building as our community readies for one of our most anticipated fun filled festivals. Lots of excitement in the air as Valley Home residents dive into preparations for the Annual Valley Home Harvest Festival coming up on October 15th. Last Saturday, the Valley Home Community Park was the site of birthday festivities for Avery Kay Cornett. The park pavilion was transformed into a gala setting to celebrate little Avery's first birthday. About forty guests attended the celebration to honor Avery which was hosted by her parents, Shane Cornett and Emma-Rubio Cornett. The Bryhni family, who are all big Giants fans, traveled to San Francisco this past weekend. Kathy, Brooke, Sierra and Garrett enjoyed a tremendous outing by the Giants and also appreciated the opportunity to be part of such a moving tribute to 9/11. Maybe the family should go to more games as it seems to have brought luck to the team by the Bay!

We have received word from Valley Home PTC president, Sherri Rathbun, that the meeting of the group on September 1st was a productive one. Mr. Trunnell our 5th/6th grade teacher reported to the club that he and the students going to Washington D.C. in June, will be having several fundraising events to reduce the cost of the trip. We received word from Tammie Smith that our Valley Home 4-H'ers are currently all busy getting ready for the Stanislaus County Fair. Tammie reminds us that with the ending of the Oakdale Junior Livestock Boosters which helped purchase the market animals, many kids are without buyers for their animals at the Fair, this year. If anyone is interested in buying an animal or helping a 4H'er they should contact Tammie at 604-6942.
