She had to stop at the corner of Pleasant Valley and Sawyer to change the trailer hitch ball because she had the wrong one on her truck.

Our Valley Home Silent Film devotees enjoyed an afternoon of "old time" movie fun on Sunday afternoon as we watched Ronald (Buster Keaton) do his best to win the love of his college days, Mary, who is being pursued by his competition, her jock boyfriend, Jeff, who takes her hostage in her dormitory room and tries to get her to marry him. Mary manages to contact Ronald by telephone, who, in a sudden show of athleticism, sprints to her Dormitory building, pole vaults into her window, and fights off Jeff by throwing household objects at him. Let's hear a resounding applause for two of our Valley Home young people, who received the Most Valuable Players Award in Basketball. They are Amanda Kerns and Dillon Arenebeck. Amanda is on the Girls 8th Grade A Team and Dillon played on the 7th Grade Boys A Team. Congratulations to both young people on the accomplishments, Valley Home is proud of you!

Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade all enjoyed field trips this past week. Previously, 5th-8th grade traveled to San Francisco to visit the Planetarium in Golden Gate Park. The field trips were funded by our Valley Home PTC through their fundraising efforts with See's Candy and Gold Canyon Candle sales. A big Thank You to our parents and community for your support to make these extra enrichment activities possible.

We couldn't ask for a nicer day weather-wise than what we enjoyed on Saturday afternoon when volunteers gathered at the Valley Home Community Park for a tree planting. Bud Ferreila drove his truck carrying a power auger and parked next to our Community Park, then went to work digging a spot for the planting of the Colorado Blue Spruce which is now the official Valley Home Community Christmas Tree. The tree was a gift from Morris Nursery which was donated to the park last December where it quickly became one of the highlights of the Valley Home annual 4-H ...

Valley Home residents were saddened to receive word that long time resident of our community, John De Boer passed away on April 13, 2012. John was very active in our community and farm organizations and was the recipient of many awards for his services. He had a long time involvement with the Farm Bureau. One of the most notable accomplishments while he was on the board was helping to write the Williamson Act. Homemade pie, delicious ice cream and a heartwarming silent cowboy movie will welcome everyone this Saturday, April 25th at St John's/St Luke's Church. Our Valley Home 4-Hers met last evening for their monthly community meeting. The 4-Hers are holding a drive thru Tri Tip dinner this Friday evening. The Tri Tip will be smoked and the dinner will have sides of beans, dinner rolls and salad. The dinner will serve a family of four and the cost is $35. VALLEY HOME NEWS- 2-25-15

This week we salute a local hero. Gene Benedix was wounded in combat in 1951 during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart commendation. He never received the actual Purple Heart medal. There will be a special presentation by Congressman Jeff Denham on April 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Gladys Lemmons Senior Center to present this medal. Please try to attend.
