We can wish for it to return but be prepared no matter what direction it goes.

Valley Home News Week of July 23, 2014

With our 2014 Stanislaus County Fair behind us and our State Fair in full swing we look at the commitment our FFA and 4-H families have. Much like our youth sports teams the commitment is huge and it is usually a total family commitment! With 4-Hers and FFA students the commitment is year round, and first involves learning about caring for the animals. Next comes hands on experience and attending judging events and project meetings. Then it's ownership. Another remarkable part of both FFA and 4-H is the dedication of great leaders and teachers! These teachers and leaders can ...

It's fair time again! Many of us have special memories of attending the county fair in our youth. What great times were had at the fair! The brightly colored Ferris wheel was always my favorite as I was never brave enough for the faster rides. For others it was the tilt-a-whirl...spinning faster and faster until before you knew it, it was spinning you rather than you spinning it. It is wildly fun and for some they can't get enough of it. Whatever your ride of choice the county fair is always a fun time for all! Remember ...

The joy of summertime memories...it was another special June visit for lifelong friends Taylor Denman and Jenna Heaton! It always amazes me, the bond these two friends share. Becoming best friends in kindergarten at Valley Home School, the friendship survived long distance when the Denman family moved to Texas when the girls were about twelve years old. The families stayed close with automobile trips back and forth every summer. As the girls became older- high school aged- the trips became airline flights to and from Valley Home and Texas. Now with the girls attending college, one in California and ...

Looking across the freshly mowed grass of Valley Home school one could easily feel the pride the 100-plus year old institution instills within our community. The sky was a beautiful blue and filled with wispy white clouds that floated with the morning breeze, the kind you feel like you could just reach up and touch. It was the day before Easter and the Valley Home 4-Hers had hidden over 600 brightly decorated eggs throughout the school yard.
