Valley Home News Week of October 2, 2013

It seemed more like a party among friends rather than a weekend yard sale! Our Valley Home Community Park was alive with friends, neighbors and folks who quickly became friends! This past Saturday the park played host to a very well-attended yard sale. The event raised much needed funds to maintain the park throughout the year. The day started off with a visit from TV station CW31 from Sacramento. TV reporter 'Charity' did a superb job of bringing excitement to what is to become an annual event for the park. The day was made more special with a visit from ...

Valley Home News Week of June 5, 2013

Dear readers, sitting down to write this week's Valley Home News is one of the most difficult things I have had to do during the 35 years I have had the privilege of reporting Valley Home News! During that time I have had the privilege of meeting and making many new friends in our community. I cherish the wonderful opportunity that I have had to write about these many in the weekly column. During that space of time, I missed turning in only two columns and the Leader missed printing another two out of an approximate total of 1860 ...

All those who attended the Silent Movies on Sunday at St. Luke'' Lutheran Church here in Valley Home were in for a special treat. The afternoon showing began with a Charlie Chaplin movie in which the actor really demonstrated his acrobatic talents as an inebriated gentleman arriving home after a big night on the town who meets up with all sorts of obstacles gaining entrance to his home, from losing his house key, climbing through a window, being attacked by stuffed animals, finding his lost key and climbing back out the window to then enter again through the front door ...

Valley Home News Week of July 16, 2014

It's fair time again! Many of us have special memories of attending the county fair in our youth. What great times were had at the fair! The brightly colored Ferris wheel was always my favorite as I was never brave enough for the faster rides. For others it was the tilt-a-whirl...spinning faster and faster until before you knew it, it was spinning you rather than you spinning it. It is wildly fun and for some they can't get enough of it. Whatever your ride of choice the county fair is always a fun time for all! Remember ...

Valley Home News Week of June 18, 2014

The joy of summertime memories...it was another special June visit for lifelong friends Taylor Denman and Jenna Heaton! It always amazes me, the bond these two friends share. Becoming best friends in kindergarten at Valley Home School, the friendship survived long distance when the Denman family moved to Texas when the girls were about twelve years old. The families stayed close with automobile trips back and forth every summer. As the girls became older- high school aged- the trips became airline flights to and from Valley Home and Texas. Now with the girls attending college, one in California and ...
