Condolences go out to the family of Mary Napier on her death at 81 years. Mary was raised in the Ferry in the house that is now the Museum and Ice Cream parlor. Her sister Ida Levine, three children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild and nieces and nephews including Carla Doshas of Knights Ferry survive her.

The county has canceled a 2009 decision denying a ranchette subdivision on Cemetery and Frymire Roads to comply with a judge's order after losing in court. A hearing will be May 15 to reconsider plans by Nicholas Honchariw.

At the MAC meeting held last Thursday, Supervisor O'Brien spoke on the release of prisoners to the local facilities. The State is funding this now but may not if the tax bill does not pass in November. The criminals that are coming into the Stanislaus County facility are non-violent and non-sexual offenders. Fish and Wildlife passed out fishing regulations for the Stanislaus River and spoke on the public meeting that was held in the Ferry. They plan to go ahead with the side channel restoration in the Army Corp Park below the covered bridge. The California Highway patrol commented ...
Emma Morales, Orange Blossom 4-H Reporter says the poppies the club planted along the North Canyon trail above the Covered Bridge are popping up. Also, the club members met at the Odd Fellows Hall to clean up the inside and outside of the building (the club meets there). The members weeded around the building and community garden and pruned plants and trees. Two truckloads of brush were disposed of as well as one truckload of garbage.
Congratulations go out to Amber and Kylea Coston for placing in the top 20 finalists for the Stanislaus County Peace Essay Contest. Amber was in the top 20 for Seventh and Eighth Grade (out of 376) and Kylea was in the top 20 for Fifth and Sixth Grades (out of 317). Their actual placing will be announced in February. February 7 is the dinner meeting of the Knights Ferry Community Club at 6:30 p.m. at the clubhouse. The Dollings have an interesting story. Fred was going out his gate when he spotted something lying in the road. Upon closer inspection he found a dead eagle! He called Lisa at the Army Corp and she sent a Fish and Game person. Looking the bird over, he found burn marks; the eagle had flown into the power lines. They turned the bird over to Fish and Wildlife and they will see that Indian tribes will receive the feathers, as Indians are the only people allowed to have eagle feathers. The Knights Ferry School Kindergarteners, First Graders, Second Graders, Fifth Graders, Sixth Graders and the Band all went to Modesto's Gallo Center for the Arts to see the Opus Hand Bell Choir. Degan Sweet liked that the bells were like piano notes. Jackson Ault thought the band was cool and it amazed him. Grace Harden liked when they banged the bells. Xavier Olvera liked when four players formed a team and rang the bells. Gracie Anderson liked the sing along. They all had a great time.
At an assembly held at Knights Ferry School last Friday, Student of the Month awards were given out to: Kindergarten- Jenna O'Neil, First Grade- Levi Dickens, Second Grade- Carter Sturtevant, Third Grade- Emalee Watson, Fourth Grade- Presley Wilson, Fifth Grade- Braden Sousa, Sixth Grade- Rilyn Cassaretto, Seventh Grade- Aleesha Harden and Eighth Grade- Madison Willis. It has been a wet time in the Ferry. The attendance at the Sunday Breakfast was down, no bicycle riders and many stayed out of the weather.
Scott Naccarato and Tristan were going to Alex and Jean's home late Saturday night when they came upon a large mountain lion on Cemetery Road. He sat there for a while then jumped the fence to the Martinelli pasture. Scott said it was very big! Be on the watch!
Taylor Witzke celebrated her third birthday with family and friends at Grandma and Grandpa Noe's home.

The noontime Halloween parade through the Ferry was exceptional. The weather was good, the costumes were great and the candy delicious! Winners of the pumpkin decorating contest at the school were: Third place, a clown, by Sergio Garcia, Brandi Cardey, Gracie Anderson, Breanna Banks and Trenton Foster. Second place went to Ray Patton, Austin Santillo, Maddy Watson, Elijah Elting, and Lupita Pineda. First place for a Smokey Bear went to Rilyn Cassaretto, Carter Sturtevant, Carson Sundberg and Mitzy Collantes. The winner of the candy corn count was Aubrey Mendonca. All winners received treats.
