With the fire danger so high here are some California Division of Forestry uses of equipment rules: While operating mobile gas powered tools a person must have a 46-inch round point shovel and an appropriate fire extinguisher within 25 feet of them at all times. Any equipment with an internal combustible engine must have a spark arrestor. The fire July 10 on Horseshoe Road was the result of a piece of equipment not having a spark arrestor. This hot weather can stop! The fires have been horrible. Matt and Rossi Glover had property burned, about 90 acres, that was started by dragging chain on a vehicle. The big fire plume in Butte County can be seen from Jeff and Lisa Shearer's ranch in Loma Rica. Numerous small fires in this area have been quickly put out before they get big. Be careful!

Thursday, July 6th is the Community Picnic at 6:00 p.m. at the clubhouse. The club will provide the hot dogs, buns and drinks and Lee will do the beans. A-M brings salads and sides and N-Z desserts.

Pat Ramont Johnson, Barb Burroughs and Ellen Wearin recently returned from a Christian Women's Retreat held in Bend, Oregon. They took a day trip to Smith Rock, a mini Grand Canyon. They also went to Redmond and Sisters to go antiquing. The lava flow from Black Butte that stretched 17 square miles was awesome. The weather and company was great! They connected with old friends from other retreats. A quick visit with Barb's daughter Megan and her husband Jay in Eugene was a perfect end to a great trip. They can't wait for next year's adventure.

Jim and Diane Boyer have returned from Virginia Beach, Virginia where their son Stuart received his PHO in Organizational Leadership from Regent University. While there they took the granddaughters Adaya, Ambriella and Amiah to Sea World. Stuart, Rosalie and girls live in Lewiston, Montana.

At the Knights Ferry MAC meeting David Leamon from the Stanislaus County Department of Public Works spoke on Measure L. Because of its passing, each road in the County will be treated three times in 25 years. Also he commented on the closing of Rodden Road May 3 for six weeks to repair the damaged culvert between Gibbs Drive and Eaton Road. The clouds gave way to beautiful sun for the Peddler's Faire on Sunday. The day started with a breakfast at the Odd Fellows Hall then a shuttle would transport down to the park where the many vendors were set up. Knights Ferry school children went around with coffee and donuts to make money for their Washington D.C. trip, working with the Wandering Barista. The E Clampus Vitus managed parking again.
